My Approach

Guiding Principles for My Practice

  • Specificity

I tailor treatment to the specific needs of the whole person. As such, I draw from different schools of theory and practice as well as other fields/disciplines in order to respond to the complexities of the world we live in.

  • Relationality

Encounters with clients are informed by the interconnectedness of human nature and the important role that relationships play in our lives.

  • Creativity

The therapeutic process is spontaneous and improvisational. Together we listen to complaints or hurts with an imaginative bent in the service of making significant changes.

  • Integration

I’m all about deconstructing things! But what I mean by valuing ‘integration’ is a reverence for the multitude of ways we know, feel, and behave— while still maintaining some sense of a coherent self.

  • Respect

This one might be the most important to me! An unwavering regard for my clients’ lived experiences foregrounds my practice. Understanding the complexities of a client’s social location is at the center of this practice. In tandem, I aim to recognize and dissect my own positionality.

“Everybody is dealing with how much of their own aliveness they can bear and how much they need to anesthetize themselves.”
